  13. You can redirect the manual to your printer by typing the following at

  29.              SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  31. 1.  IBM or 100% compatible computer.
  32. 2.  EGA or VGA compatible display with 256K RAM on the video card.

  34. 4.  540K of free RAM withour expanded memory.

  36.               REGISTRATION
  37.  
  38. This manual was written for the registered version of this program.  To 
  39. reduce file size and provide an incentive to purchase the complete version
  40. of this program, the shareware version has the following limitations.
  41.     
  42.     1.  Game scores and information are not saved.
  43.     2.  No sound blaster support provided.
  44.     3.  4 computer players versus 8 in the registered version.
  45.     4.  5 and 7 card stud games are implemented, High Chicago and 
  46.     Holdem not available.
  47.     5.  Players comments after each hand is completed are not available.
  48.             
  49. The file "ORDERFRM.TXT" is provided to register this program.  Registered 
  50. users will receive a diskette (2 diskettes for the voice version) with the
  51. complete game.  You can charge your order by calling 1-800-771-6746.  The
  52. program can print an order form for you by selecting ORDER FORM -- PRINT 
  53. from the CHOOSE PLAYERS menu at game sign in. Price is $10 + $3 shipping
  54. and handling.  An additional $5 for the Voice Pack (sound blaster required).

  58.                 GAME STARTUP
  59.  
  60. Type "POKER" to run the program once it is installed on your hard disk.
  61.                
  62.               COMMAND LINE OPTIONS  
  63.                  
  64. 1.  SILENT, /S -- Type "POKER /S" to start the program with the Sound Blaster
  65. turned off. 
  66.  
  67. 2.  NOEXTENDED, /N -- Type "Poker /N" to start the game using conventional 
  68. memory only.  This game will attempt to use expanded memory.  If you have 
  69. more than 640k of memory, insure your config.sys extended memory manager 
  70. line reads EMM386.EXE RAM.  If RAM is replace with NOEMS, the game may not
  71. run in expanded memory properly.  Use the "/N" switch to start ULTIMATE 
  72. POKER or change the NOEMS switch to RAM in your config.sys file.  When 
  73. using extended memory as expanded memory, less conventional RAM will be
  74. required to run this program.

  76.                 GAME SIGN IN
  77.             
  78. Enter the name you will play under.  Game information will be saved 
  79. in reference to this name so that signing in with this name in the 
  80. future will allow you to continue your last game.  To continue your last
  81. game, sign in and choose RESUME GAME from the Choose Players menu.  The 
  82. menu selections PICK PLAYERS or QUICK SETUP are used to start the  
  83. game with a starting purse of $2000.
  84.  
  85. Move to each menu in the sign in page by using your mouse or 
  86. the keyboard arrow keys.  Push the left mouse button or the enter key 
  87. on the keyboard to select a menu item.  Basic game information is 
  88. available in the GAME DETAILS section of CHOOSE PLAYERS and the GAME 
  89. RULES section of CHOOSE GAMES.

  91.             GENERAL GAME INFORMATION
  92.  
  93. The game table is set up so that the dealer always sits to the back left,
  94. player #2 is back right, player #3 is front right, and you sit front left.

  103. The dealer always deals to his left first.  The player with the highest hand
  104. is given the first chance to bet (exception HOLDEM - player #2 always bets 
  105. first).  Once a bet is on the table, any subsequent player may raise (3 
  106. raise limit.)  When the pot is right, the dealer will deal the next card.  
  107. The winner is determined by the standard priority of poker hands using 
  108. only the best 5 cards to make a hand.

  110.                  GAME CONTROLS
  111.  
  112. Any Microsoft compatible mouse should work with this program.
  113.  
  114. The following keys are used to manipulate this program.
  115.  
  116.     ARROW KEYS:  Use the up/down arrow keys to select your choice from 
  117.     the menu presented when it is your turn to play then press ENTER or 
  118.     drag the mouse to position the hand pointer to the desired item 
  119.     then press the LEFT mouse button.
  120.              
  121.     ENTER KEY:  Once the hand pointer is positioned next to the menu
  122.     choice you desire, press the ENTER key or press the LEFT mouse 
  123.     button.

  161.        a. THOUGHTS ON/OFF:  The default setting is ON.  This will 
  162.        toggle from OFF to ON each time it is selected.  You will be 
  163.        able to see the player's thoughts occasionally during game 
  164.        play.  Be ware, you will be seeing only light thoughts, please 
  165.        consider the source and don't take offense.

  167.        b. TALK  ON/OFF:  This is used for controlling the Sound Blaster
  168.        only.  If you don't have a sound blaster or you have not ordered
  169.        the sound blaster sound pack for this game,  you will not be
  170.        able to turn this feature on.  When on (default if a sound 
  171.        blaster is recognized) you will hear digitized voices that 
  172.        say the words seen in the talk balloons for each player while
  173.        playing the game.  Note: Voices are not provided for the sign 
  174.        in screen.

  176.        c. SHUFFLE  ON/OFF:  This is used for controlling the Sound 
  177.        Blaster only.  If you don't have a sound blaster or you have 
  178.        not ordered the sound blaster sound pack for this game,  you 
  179.        will not be able to turn this feature on.  When on (default 
  180.        if a sound blaster is recognized) you will hear digitized shuffle
  181.        sounds when the dealer shuffles the cards and deal sounds when
  182.        the dealer is dealing the cards.

  184.        d. COMMENTS ON/OFF:  This is used for controlling whether the 
  185.        comments made by the players after the hand is finished will 
  186.        be heard.  If you don't have a sound blaster or you have not 
  187.        ordered the sound blaster sound pack for this game, you will 
  188.        not be able to hear digitized voices that will say the words 
  189.        seen in the talk balloons when the hand is completed.  When on,
  190.        the computer generated players will occasionally make comments
  191.        when the hand is completed.  If a mouse button or keyboard key
  192.        is pressed immediately after a hand, a new hand will start and 
  193.        the comments will not be seen or heard.  Wait approximately 3 
  194.        seconds after the hand is complete to see the comments made by
  195.        the players.  Can be turned on in the registered version of 
  196.        this program even if no sound blaster is present.

  198.        NOTE: All of the above settings are saved when the game is quit.
  199.        
  200.     3. STATISTICS:  See this heading later in the manual for an
  201.     explanation of this function.
  202.     
  203.     4. BET SIZE: Allows you to select the amount the bets allowed
  204.     in the game.  You must select one of the choices to exit from
  205.     the menu.

  207.     5. GAME SPEED: Allows selection of different game speeds. try 
  208.     different settings to see which you like best.

  238.     QUIT GAME: Use this option to quit the game. If you make a mistake 
  239.     and don't really want to quit, you are afforded the opportunity to
  240.     continue the game.

  242.                  STATISTICS
  243.  
  244.     This provides a quick look at the percentage of different hands
  245.     that have historically won for a particular game.  Also provided
  246.     is a NUM SEEN column. This provides a running count of how many
  247.     times a specific hand has been seen in this type game (historical 
  248.     record). The file that keeps track of this information is
  249.     STATS.DAT.  If you want to start collecting stats from scratch you
  250.     can delete this file from the game directory and a new one will 
  251.     be started by the game.

  253.                  BET HELP
  254.  
  255.     This item will provide the user with some computer generated ideas
  256.     on what the best move might be for the situation at the time.  This
  257.     help is designed to provide an initial idea of how to proceed, but
  258.     is by no means the final answer since no intuitive processes are 
  259.     involved.
  260.  
  261.                  MOUSE ADJUSTMENT
  262.  
  263.     Your mouse sensitivity can be adjusted if desired.  When in the 
  264.     main poker room, push "M" on you keyboard when it is your turn 
  265.     to bet.  A mouse adjustment menu will appear. 
  266.                
  267.                  USE WITH WINDOWS
  268.  
  269. This product was not written specifically for windows compatibility,
  270. but in most cases it can be used from WINDOWS 3.1.  Compatibility with 
  271. WINDOWS is not guaranteed.  To use this product from windows perform the 
  272. following.
  273.     
  274.     a. Install the program normally from DOS. Make note of the drive
  275.        and directory on which you installed the program.
  276.     b. Start Windows.  Bring up the Program Manager.
  277.  
  278.        NOTE: If you want to place this file into an existing Program
  279.        Group, select the program group you want this program to fit 
  280.        into and skip to step f.
  281.  
  282.     c. Click on File then click New. 
  283.     d. Select Program Group then click the OK button. 
  284.     e. In Description enter "GAMBLERS", then click the OK button.
  285.     f. Click File from the Program Manager, then click New.
  286.     g. Select Program Item then click the OK button.
  287.     h. In the Program Item Properties box enter the following.
  288.        Description      : "ULTIMATE POKER".
  289.        Command Line     : "POKER.EXE"
  290.        Working Directory: (enter the drive and directory as noted in A
  291.        above.  EXAMPLE: "d:\poker"
  292.     i. Click Change Icon button then click the next OK button.
  293.     j. In the File Name block enter "(drive and directory as noted in A
  294.        above plus "\POKER.ICO"), then push the OK button. 
  295.        EXAMPLE: "d:\poker\poker.ico". 
  296.     k. You should see the POKER icon appear as the Program Item 
  297.        Properties dialogue box reappears.  Push the OK button and 
  298.        you are now done.

  300.               OTHER ACCIDENTAL GAMES

  303. provide hours of entertainment and excitement.  Each game has been 
  304. carefully designed to provide a realistic simulation of the game it 
  305. emulates.  These games use keyboard or mouse and require 540K or less
  306. or Free RAM, EGA or VGA, DOS 3.1 or above, and a hard disk.  Each 
  307. game has Sound Blaster support. NOTE: A sound blaster or 100%
